Violinist and tutor based in Auckland, New Zealand.
I’m Aria Zhenzhen Li, an Auckland-based violinist and tutor. I have been teaching violin since 1998.
I studied violin performance at the University of Auckland with David Nalden and Dimitry Atanassov. I hold an ABRSM LRSM Diploma in Violin and a Bachelor of Music in Performance.
Over the years, I have explored many different areas, including information technology, biotechnology and bioscience enterprise. I enjoy learning new things and understanding how things work. But no matter what I study or experiment with, I always come back to music.
For me, music is more than a skill or a profession. It is a language. It helps us listen to ourselves, understand our feelings, and connect with other people. Sometimes music can express things that words cannot.
I believe music can create a special kind of connection between people. It can bring understanding, balance and harmony, both within ourselves and with others.
This is also how I teach. I want students to build strong technique, but I also want them to understand the music, enjoy the process and find their own voice. I teach students from beginners through advanced and diploma levels, including ABRSM and Suzuki pathways.
